Други, я в пятницу утром хочу сесть на машину в Вентуре, поехать на восток, переночевать вот здесь - https://www.reseze.net/servlet/WebresResDesk?hotelid=1237, там погулять в субботу, потом найти где-нибудь по дороге в ЛА мотель, переночевать и утром сдать машину и сесть на самолет в Амстердам. Скучно мне это все делать в одиночестве. Нет ли идей, где искать попутчиков? Я, конечно, поспрашиваю еще на конференции, но пока все с кем успела познакомиться разъезжаются сразу после.

А ты проверила, там дороги не закрыты из-за снега? А то, хотеть не вредно, но можно и далеко не уехать :)

Deer Ridge to Amphitheater Point, Highway Reconstruction
March 2010 - May 2012
This section of the highway has temporary vehicle length restrictions.

Parkwide Chip Sealing

April 2011 - October 2011

Expect short, intermittent delays.
Some one-way roads may be closed.

Cedar Grove Bridge Replacement

April 2011 - November 2011

Work will resume in Spring 2012

Bridge between Highway 180 and Cedar Grove Village will be closed. Cedar Grove Village will be accessible via detour on Northside Road.

Use Lewis Creek Trailhead as a turn-around for large vehicle and trailers.

Highway 180 to Roads End will remain open.




ROAD STATUS
Due to constantly changing conditions please call (559) 565-3341 (press 1, 1, 1) for the most up-to-date road status and advisories.

Generals Highway (Foothills to Lodgepole)
Closed to vehicles longer than 22 feet (6.7 m) through May 2012 Reconstruction Project. For vehicles towing trailers - the combined length must be less than 22 feet.

Closed occasionally during and after snow storms for plowing. Chains may be required for all vehicles.

Generals Highway (Lodgepole to Grant Grove)
Closed Jan. 2, 2012 From Wuksachi Lodge to Montecito Resort (8 miles south of Hwy 180) through April 1, 2012.

Highway 180 (Grant Grove to Cedar Grove)
Information about Highway 180 outside Kings Canyon.
Open May to November, weather permitting. Chains may be required for all vehicles.

Mineral King Road (Sequoia National Park)
Closed in winter. Open mid-June to October 2012, weather permitting. Partially unpaved. RVs and trailers not recommended.

Crystal Cave Road (Sequoia National Park)
Open during cave tour season, May to October.

Moro Rock & Crescent Meadow Road (Sequoia National Park)
Closed in winter due to snow. Re-opens with spring melt. In summer, closed to private vehicles 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. weekends and holidays during park shuttle operations.

Hume Lake Road (from Princess Campground on Highway 180 to Hume Lake in Sequoia National Forest). Open year-round. Chains may be required.
Tenmile Road (from Hume Lake south to Quail Flat on the Generals Highway in Sequoia National Forest). Not plowed of snow in winter. Accessible when snow melts.

Big Meadows Road (Turns off the Generals Highway between Quail Flat and Monticeto Resort in Sequoia National Forest). Closed in winter due to snow. Opens with snow melt in spring.
Redwood Mountain Road (Kings Canyon National Park)
Turns off the Generals Highway opposite Quail Flat. Unpaved. Closed in winter; not plowed of snow. Graded in spring.
Panoramic Point Road (Kings Canyon National Park)
Turns off by the John Muir Lodge in Grant Grove. Closes with first snow. Re-opens with spring snow melt. No trailers or motorhomes.
South Fork Road (Sequoia National Park)
Turns off Highway 198 in Three Rivers approximately 6 miles south of the Ash Mountain Entrance. Open year-round. Partially unpaved; slippery when wet.

На пятницу-субботу вроде солнышко обещали, а ещё там первой строчкой написано что кусок дороги закрыт, и можно въезжать в парк только с одной стороны, а не с двух (правда с более удобной). Там наверняка ещё не починили будку собирающую деньги за въезд, это можно просто проигнорировать, а можно в лодже спросить потом где деньги отдать :)

Там пишут, что нужны цепи на все виды машин, а насколько я поспрашивала, цепи в прокате не дают...

Прям сейчас нужны цепи? Хох! Мы в редких случаях когда объявляют что требуются цепи, покупали их на подъездах к горе, где-нибудь в районе Фресно. Уж не помню, долларов 30 по-моему, или в любом магазине запчастей типа Pep Boys. А ещё их надевать интересно... Но есть инструкция. Даже не знаю. Своих цепей у нас нет, и в среднем это сходит с рук, но иногда да, случаются авралы и снегопады.

в интернете, на сайте парка :) там же высота километра 3 местами и не побережье
не знаю как в этом году, в некоторые годы в середине мая дороги частично закрыты
